LAHORE (92 News) – The counsel assured the accountability court that Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif will return to the country on June 11. During the hearing of Shehbaz Sharif’s plea for exemption from attendance in the Ashiana scandal case on Tuesday, the court expressed its anger when lawyers started speaking same time. “It is a court and do not make it a political arena,” it remarked. The judge called Hamaza Sharif to the rostrum when lawyers misbehaved with each other.
Ramazan Sugar Mills, Ashiana cases adjourned till May 28
On May 25, the court had adjourned Ashiana scandal and Ramazan Sugar Mills cases till May 28. During the hearing, counsel appeared on behalf of Shahbaz Sharif and told the court that his client (Shehbaz Sharif) was out of country for medical tests. Counsel sought a two weeks exemption from personal appearance for Shahbaz Sharif. Judge Jawadul Hassan presided over the hearing, asked for a date when the Shehbaz Sharif would be able to join the court hearings. Counsel told the court that his client is in abroad and he will return to Pakistan soon. He further said that Shehbaz’s condition cannot be treated here in Pakistan, adding that the doctors here in Pakistan have recommended that his client seek treatment abroad. Earlier, accountability Court judge Jawad ul Hassan heard the case. During proceedings, counsels of both PML-N leaders presented requests to excuse them from appearing in court. Shehbaz’s counsel told the court that his client is out of the country for medical treatment and cannot appear before the court so he should be exempted from making an appearance. On the other hand, Hamza’s counsel also submitted an exemption plea on behalf of his client and told the court that he is feeling unwell and cannot appear before the court. The court in its remarks questioned the Shehbaz’s counsel that is he sure about the return of his client. To which, Shehbaz’s counsel told the court that his medical reports are being presented regularly. The counsel also submitted Shehbaz Sharif’s medical reports and said that though Shehbaz Sharif said he would return to Pakistan in two weeks, his doctors had advised him to stay on for further treatment. The counsel added that Hamza Shehbaz didn’t appear in court because he was ill while his father is still in London. The NAB had filed a reference against the two alleging that the former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif misused his authority by using public funds for the construction of a bridge to facilitate the Ramzan mills, owned by his sons.
