Shehzad Shaukat appointed as Punjab advocate general

LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Governor Baleeghur Rehman has appointed Shehzad Shaukat as the new advocate general of Punjab.

A notification was also issued by the law ministry in this regard. His appointment comes after the Punjab government recently removed Advocate General Ahmad Awais from his position.

Earlier, Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz had approved removal of Advocate General Punjab Ahmed Awais from his post. After approval, summary of removal of Advocate General had been sent to Governor Punjab.

Punjab AG Ahmed Awais was stopped from doing work. The Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department had issued the letter. However, the Punjab AG had refused to relinquish his position. He had said that he would continue to work till the governor stops from doing work. "I will continue to perform my duties as per law. I have appeared in the Shehbaz oath-taking ceremony case on the court orders,"
