RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Lahore High Court’s (LHC) on Monday reserved verdict on the petition of Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid’s petition challenging the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone elections in NA-60 constituency. As per details, Sheikh Rasheed' lawyer Sardar Abdul Razaq filed the plea in LHC Rawalpindi bench. The petition sated that election cannot be postponed on account of the conviction of a contestant. In the petition, the petitioner asked that why should voters of the constituency suffer due to the conviction of Pakistan Muslim League-N leader (PML-N Hanif Abbasi. He requested from the LHC to set aside the ECP's decision and direct it to conduct election in the constituency on July 25. However, the LHC Rawalpindi bench reserved the verdict. Earlier today, the ECP had postponed the election in NA-60 after disqualification of Hanif Abbasi due to his conviction by the anti-narcotics court in ephedrine case. After the announcement of verdit, Abbasi was arrested form the courtroom and shifted to the Adiala jail.
