Sheikh Rasheed says nation paying price for IMF’s US$6 billion aid

LAHORE (92 News) – Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed said that the nation is paying the price for the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) aid of US$6 billion. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, he said that there is inflation, but the government could not deal with the flour crisis. “A price control committee comprising of real people should be formed,” he said. The minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with each other. “2020 is the year of progress, not election,” he declared. He said that no obstacle will be tolerated in the way of implementation of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. He reaffirmed the determination to the upgradation of railways infrastructure of ML-1 from Karachi to Peshawar. “My vision is to extend the ML-1 project by 154 kilometer from Peshawar to Jalalabad. The project will help provide 100,000 jobs to the youth,” he said. The freight train will be run from Mughalpura Dry Port to Karachi. It will help the traders transport goods from Lahore to Karachi. Moreover, the train will earn a huge profit for the railway.
