Sheikh Rasheed says passenger trains not being resumed from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed has said that passengers trains are not being resumed from Tuesday and will remain closed till further orders. Talking to the media on Monday, he said that these directions were issued by Prime Minister Imran Khan during a meeting of the core committee. He said that all freight trains are operating across the country. “There are 65 hospitals and dispensaries being run by the railways and we are reserving them for coronavirus patients. We have established a 65-bed isolation ward at Rawalpindi’s Railway Hospital,” he added. He declared that the railway will bear all expenditures incurred on the treatment of coronavirus patients in its hospitals. The minister said that the railway is playing a key role in the transportation of pulses, rice, ghee and petroleum. “A sum of Rs150 billion has been approved in the ECC meeting. However, it will be decided in a meeting that whether each family should be given Rs6,000 or Rs12,000,” he declared. He said that the situation in Pakistan will not head towards the curfew in Pakistan. “The people adopting precautionary measures are serving the country and the nation. Pakistan is not facing the situation like Italy and Spain. The coming 15 days are very important. The epidemic will start receding if it did not spread further in coming 15 days,” he said. Sheikh Rasheed said that he would convey the protective kits by Sunday.
