ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed has filed a plea seeking pre-arrest bail after the registration of cases in different cities.

Sheikh Rasheed reached the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court and applied for pre-arrest bail. The police have already arrested his nephew Sheikh Rashid Shafiq. Nine cases have been registered against Sheikh Rasheed in different cities.

Earlier, several Pakistanis had been arrested from Madina Munawara over the Masjid-e-Nabwi (SAW) incident.

The Saudi Embassy spokesperson had said that some Pakistanis have been arrested for not respecting the sanctity of the holy place. He said that the protesters had been taken into custody for 'violating the regulations' and 'disrespecting' the sanctity of the holy mosque.
