RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz inaugurated the hemp (Bhang) crop in Rawat on Thursday.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Arid Agriculture University after the hemp crop cultivated on one acre ripened.

Speaking on the occasion, Shibli Faraz said that hemp is used in medicines and its cultivation will bring a variety in crops. "In industries, hemp is used as fibre."

He said that the prime minister had launched a campaign for cultivation of olive and now its production had started.

"The PTI government wants to patronize such projects. The costlier part of the hemp is its seeds. The hemp impression is that it is used for wrong purposes. The products derived from hemp are more profitable than the drug," he maintained.

The minister said that the government had formed the Bhang policy in consultation with the Agriculture Ministry, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Health Ministry and other stakeholders.
