ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Information Shibli Faraz has said that courts are independent in their verdicts. Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said that it was not a practice in the country that the powerful should appear before courts and law. He said that the court had ordered the arrest of Shehbaz Sharif. "It does not mean that the elections are being held in Gilgit-Baltistan," he added. The minister said that there should be supremacy of the law. "The opposition has united to stop the accountability process. They are doing this to save their leaders," he said. He said that Gilgit-Baltistan would prove to be a economic hub of the country in the future. "We have never tried to destabilize GB during two years. The GB budget was increased despite the COVID-19 pandemic," he added. Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat said that the government had nothing to do with the arrest of Shehbaz Sharif. "Shehbaz Sharif is paying the price for his acts," he said.
