'Shiv Sainiks' disrupt Pakistani play in Gurgaon

'Shiv Sainiks' disrupt Pakistani play in Gurgaon
October 25, 2015
GURGAON (92 News) – Shouting anti-Pakistan slogans, men claiming to be from the Shiv Sena disrupted a play by some Pakistani actors in Gurgaon. The incident comes days after the Shiv Sena forced the cancellation of ghazal singer Ghulam Ali's musical performance in Mumbai. The 'Shiv Seniks' allegedly marched on stage and threw away a Pakistani flag that was being used a prop in the play called 'Baanjh', while shouting "Long live India, death to Pakistan". The men also demanded to know why the organizers had invited Pakistani performers to act in the play. Although two policemen had been assigned to provide security for the play, they were absent from the scene at the time of the incident, organizers said. "They shouted slogans like 'Pakistan Murdabad' and disrupted the show for about 5-10 minutes," Public Relations Officer of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon Satbir Rohilla said. The Shiv Sena activists had recently blackened the face of former BJP leader Sudheendra Kulkarni, chairman of the Observer Research Foundation, in Mumbai when he refused to cancel the book launch of former Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri in Mumbai. They had also stormed the BCCI office in Mumbai and forced cancellation of talks between Indian cricket board chief Shashank Manohar and his Pakistani counterpart Shahryar Khan on resumption of cricketing ties between the two countries.
