KARACHI (92 News) – Fire erupted at a shops situated at the Dua Chowk in New Karachi area which spread very quickly and also engulfed the godown on the shop. Two fire brigade vehicles and rescue teams reached the spot and brought the fire under control. According to rescue sources, the cause of fire is not yet known but it completely destroyed the shop and its godown. It was further reported that that no loss of life was reported in the incident.

On March 22, two children and their mother killed on Friday as short circuit fire broke out at their house at Jamshed road near electricity house in Karachi. According to reports, the fire broke out due to short circuit in the house. The bodies of the deceased were moved to the hospital, while further investigation into the incident was underway. In a separate incident of fire incident in March, 2018, at least four people, two children were burnt to death after a fire broke out in a house in a neighborhood of Lahore. Police said the fire erupted in a servant quarter of the house in Wapda Town, where a man, his wife and their two children were residing. The raging fire burned the households to death in no time. After being informed of the fire, fire fighters and rescue teams had reached the spot immediately and doused the blaze.

Earlier, two people were killed while seven others injured when a building caught fire in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area on Thursday.

Fire fighters extinguished fire after hectic efforts. A rescue operation is continuing till the filing of this report.

Pakistan Navy’s helicopters and fire tenders took part in the rescue operation. Fire brigade officials said that the fire which had engulfed five to six floors of the building has been doused. “The fire erupted owing to a short circuit on the fourth floor of the building and spread through electrical wires,” the fire brigade officials continued. Ten fire tenders, two snorkels and a water browser doused the fire, the fire brigade officials added.
