SIFC’s Apex Committee briefed about action against smuggling, black mafia

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq presided over a meeting of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC)’s Apex Committee held on Saturday.

Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, federal cabinet, provincial chief ministers and high-level government officials also attended the meeting. The forum was briefed about action against smuggling and black mafia across the country.

Addressing a press conference, Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas said that Pakistan's relations with different countries were discussed in the meeting. "Pakistan is adopting an effective foreign policy. We have very good relations with China, America and Saudi Arabia," he added.

He said that the SIFC's objective is to remove hurdles in the investment. "Investment is being made in mining, mineral, agriculture and other departments," he declared.

Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that Pakistan has devised a special visa policy for investors and businessmen. "Visas will be issued to employees of investors and businessmen. The country is being made business-friendly," he added.

Bugti said that the country's economy faces threats from smuggling. "All agencies have taken steps to stop smuggling and its results will be before all in the coming days. We have also devised a policy for illegal immigrants," he added.

He said that the NADRA is establishing a motorbike unit to facilitate the certificates of school going children. "No one will be allowed to impose the agenda at gunpoint. Torture will not be allowed at any cost," he maintained.
