Sikh pilgrims reach Pakistan to attend Baba Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary

LAHORE (92 News) – As many as 1000 Sikh pilgrims from India have reached Lahore via Wagha Border to attend the 550th birth celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji. According to the details garnered, the Sikh yatrees will attend the inauguration ceremony of the Kartarpur Corridor on November 9 and attend the 550th birth celebrations of the founder of the Sikh religion Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Nankana Sahib during their 10 day-long sojourn in Pakistan. Dr Ahmed said the government has made fool-proof security arrangements for the visiting Sikh yatrees, adding that all kinds of facilities would be provided to them during their visit as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Grumeet Singh Bos said that the Sikhs were pleased to arrive in Pakistan, adding that the services rendered by the PM Imran to the Sikh community will be written with golden words in history. Sardar Srojeet Singh Virk said, “We came to Pakistan with a message of love and brotherhood.” The Sikh yatrees would take part in religious rites in Nankana Sahib during the next two days while they will travel to Kartarpur to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Kartarpur Corridor. The Sikhs would return to Nankana Sahib and participate in their religious rites on November 10 and 11. On November 12 — the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Ji — the Sikh yatrees would attend the central ceremony of 'Nagar Kirtan' and 'Bhook Akhand Parth Sahib' at Janam Asthan, Nankana Sahib. The yatrees will depart for India on November 13 and 14 after performing religious rites. Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Dr Amir Ahmed along with Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee's (PSGPC) Sardar Stwant Singh and other officials of the ETPB were present to welcome the Sikh pilgrims at the Wagah border. On Sunday, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has announced that Kartarpur Corridor is ready to welcome Sikh pilgrims. In a tweet this morning, the prime minister congratulated his concerned government team for readying the project in a record time for Guru Nanak Dev Jee’s 550th birth day celebrations. The prime minister tweeted the message along with pictures of the set up at the Pakistani side for the incoming Sikh pilgrims at Kartarpur.   PM Khan also congratulated his government for readying Kartarpur in a “record time” for Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary.
