Sindh CM directs to form police force to boost security

KARACHI (92 News) – As part of its efforts to reduce street crime across the city, the provincial government has on Friday decided to launch a targeted operation against street crime and drug mafia and form a police force comprising of 10,000 police personnel. The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) Chief Zubair Habib briefed a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. He said that as many as 23 incidents occurred at Shahrah-e-Faisal, 18 in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, 15 in Gulistan-e-Johar and 13 in Aziz Bhatti, while car snatching incidents increased in 25 police precincts last year. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed Inspector General Sindh A.D. Khawaja to take steps to reduce street crime across the city. He further expressed dissatisfaction over measures taken so far to curb street crimes in the city. The chief minister also decided to constitute police force comprising of 10,000 police personnel to boost security in the city.
