KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered to cut fuel quota by 40 percent for him, provincial ministers and other government officials.

In a statement, Murad Ali Shah said that reducing petrol quota will not increase the burden on the exchequer.“Overburdening the treasury means overburdening the masses.”

Earlier , the government had further increased the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs30 per litre. Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail had said that petrol price will be increased to Rs209.89 per litre and diesel will be available at Rs204.15 per litre. “Government was forced to increase the POL products prices due to the agreement signed between the previous government and the IMF. The country got a loan of Rs25 billion during the last 71 years while the former government got the same amount in loan during the last four years.

"The increase in the petrol price was unavoidable. The government is giving a subsidy of Rs120 billion on petrol," he concluded.
