Sindh CM orders to seal Darul Sehat Hospital over Nishw’s death

KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday directed to sealed Darul Sehat Hospital over Nishwa’s death. The Sindh chief minister expressed dissatisfaction with the report of Sindh Health Care Commission for negligence, violation of rules and administering wrong injection to nine-month-old Nishwa. In its report, the commission had recommended a monetary penalty of Rs500,000 on Darul Sehat Hospital and ordered the medical facility to sack the ‘untrained’ staff in wake of mistreatment and resultant death of toddler girl Nishwa. Talking to journalists, Syed Murad Ali Shah said: “I have directed Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho to seal Darul Sehat Hospital.” He also said that most of the staff at the hospital was untrained and added that no hospital could be run by two people. Heavy contingents of police arrived at Dar ul Sehat hospital following the announcement by the chief minister. Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani said that the administration was moving to seal the hospital in question on CM’s orders. Qaiser, father of the girl, alleged that her daughter Nishwa was paralysed due to ‘wrong injection’ given to her by the ‘untrained nursing staff’. Her father said that he brought his twin daughters to the hospital for treatment of diarrhoea. He added her daughters were injected three drips on different timings. The father said that condition of one of his daughters Nishwa was worsened just after the family prepared to leave for home. “An on-duty doctor told me that condition of my daughter would be better till morning if I leave her for one night. A nursing staff member, Moiz, came in and administered a drip.”
