Sindh CM summons key meeting over arrest of Capt (rtd) Safdar

KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah has summoned an important high level meeting over arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-N vice president Maryam Nawaz'z husband Captain (retd) Safdar by Karachi police on Monday.

According to the details, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership including ministers and concerned officials will attend the meeting via video link.

The meeting will discuss the arrest of Captain Safdar and other matters. The PPP leadership did not give stance till now.

It was also reported that Murtaza Wahab, Saeed Ghani, Nasir Shah, Mukesh Kumar and other leaders will attend the meeting. said that the provincial government will announce its action plan after the meeting.

Reacting to Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar’s arrest from a Karachi hotel, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani actions of Captain (r) Safdar at Quaid-e-Azam’s tomb were inappropriate; however, the arrest of the PML-N leader was not ordered by Sindh government.

Reacting to PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz’s tweet in which she said police barged in her hotel room and arrested her husband, Ghani said: “Whatever Capt Safdar did at Mazar-e-Quaid was uncalled for but the way the police arrested him is condemnable.”

He said that the provincial government has no role in his arrest. “Capt Safdar was not arrested on the Sindh government’s instructions,” he clarified, adding the police’s move is aimed at causing a rift among opposition parties part of the PDM that they will foil.

Safdar was arrested by the police from a Karachi hotel where he along with his wife Maryam was staying for allegedly violating the sanctity of the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah.
