Sindh CM visits Sukkur Barrage, reviews flood situation

SUKKUR (92 News) - Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday visited Sukkur Barrage and reviewed the flood situation in the Indus River after disastrous rains across the province. Upon arrival at the barrage, the irrigation officials briefed the chief minister on current situation. Murad Ali Shah was briefed by the authorities about the current flood situation at the barrage and precautionary measures taken by them. The Sindh chief minister was also told that Guddu Barrage is experiencing high-level while Sukkur Barrage is experiencing moderate flooding and embankments which are at risk are being repaired. Talking to the journalists, on the occasion, Murad Ali Shah said that he had informed the Prime Minister about the damage caused by the rains in Karachi and today he will also write a letter to the premier. He said 136 people lost their lives in the rains and 2.3 million people in 20 districts were affected by the rains. The chief minister further said that he is visiting the flood-hit areas and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto will also visit different districts of the province in coming three days from today.
