KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh Governor Justice (retd) Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui passed away on Wednesday. He was 78. He is survived by a widow and a son. He was born in Lucknow in 1938 and migrated to Pakistan in 1954. His funeral will be held at Polo Ground after Friday prayers. Federal ministers and high-ranking civil and military officers will attend the funeral. Governor Justice (retd) Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui was taken to South City Hospital after his condition deteriorated due to asthma and chest infection. He was recently shifted to Governor’s House after being under treatment in hospital for a month. He could spend only one day in Governor's House after taking the oath of his office on November 11, 2016. Justice (retd) Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui was the 31st governor of Sindh. He had also contested the presidential election on the ticket of the PML-N in 2008. He was appointed the Sindh High Court judge in 1980. Saeeduz Zaman started his practice as lawyer in 1961 and became the Sindh High Court chief justice in 1999. In the Musharraf era, he refused to take the oath under the PCO. In 2008, he contested the presidential election against Asif Zardari as a candidate of the PML-N. Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have expressed deep grief over the sad demise of Governor Sindh Justice (retd) Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui. The PM stated that the services of Justice (retd) Seeduz Zaman Siddiqui in the field of judiciary and upholding rule of law would be remembered. Justice (retd) Saeeduz Zaman was an upright and honest judge who never compromised on his principles and remained impartial in delivery of justice, stated the prime minister. He further said that his contributions regarding resisting and giving sacrifices against undemocratic elements are unparalleled. He prayed for the departed soul and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family of Justice (retd) Saeeduz Zaman. On the other hand, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and former governor Qaim Ali Shah have also expressed sorrow over the death of Governor Justice (retd) Saeeduz Zaman.
