Sindh govt allows 86 more industrial units to resume operations

KARACHI (92 News) – The Sindh government has allowed to 86 more industries to resume their operations for increasing the industrial production of export. According to a notification issued by the provincial home department, 86 more industries will resume their operations after submission of undertaking to fully follow the SOPs designed by the government over COVID-19 outbreak. The notification states that 86 factories were allowed to resume their operation to complete their pending orders. “The units would be bound to follow the SOPs amid coronavirus outbreak,” it added. It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh government has allowed 151 industrial units to resume their operations in the province earlier. Earlier on Monday, two industrial units in Karachi were sealed for violating standard operating procedure (SOPs). Taking action against the violation of preventive measures of coronavirus SOPs, the district administration reviewed Korangi’s industrial area on the direction of the deputy commissioner. After checking two factories, the Korangi assistant commissioner sealed industrial units for filling their transport vehicles with workers. These factories are related to pharmaceuticals. All of them are situated on Korangi Industrial Road. Meanwhile, one tea company was also sealed due to the breaching rules and regulations of virus pandemic. According to Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab, the operations of the factories were suspended for not maintaining social distancing between workers in transport vehicles. The government had previously instructed the companies it allowed to resume operations to ensure only one third of the vehicles are filled.
