Sindh govt announces public holiday today after rain wreaked havoc in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) - The Sindh government announced a province-wide public holiday on Friday (today) after heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Karachi The announcement was made due to the destruction caused by the torrential rains in the province. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that all the government, semi-private and private institutions, and organizations shall observe a public holiday on Friday. He said that the institutions of essential duties and emergency response centres shall continue to discharge their duties as usual. The decision came after heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Mirpurkhas and other parts of the province. On the other hand, as many as 16 people were killed in different incidents due to heavy rains as the worst urban flooding caused more devastation in Karachi. Nine people, including women and children, were killed when the wall of a shopping mall collapsed at Saima Square. Rescuers recovered all the bodies buried in the debris. Four people drowned in different incidents. All the roads and streets have become rivers and streams. The flood has washed away everything, including vehicles, bikes and heavy containers, on his way. A police van reaching Shahra-e-Faisal to help citizens was also stuck in the rainwater. 11 die, worst urban flooding, devastation, Karachi Rainwater accumulated on all roads from Quaidabad to Kemari and from Orangi and Baldia Town.
