KARACHI (92 News) – The Sindh government announced to clamp complete lockdown on Friday as part of preventive measures against the pandemic novel coronavirus. According to an announcement made by the provincial home department, all commercial activities and businesses will remain at standstill from May 15 (Friday) to 17 (Sunday). There will be complete lockdown in the province from morning till 3pm, the minister said. All shops, including retail shops and medical shops, will be allowed to open after 3pm, he added. Meantime, commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani directed deputy commissioners to ensure the implementation of the government’s directives. All sorts of business activities will remain closed today from morning till 3pm, he said, adding, the eateries and medical stores will be allowed to open after the 3pm. Earlier, the complete lockdown from 12 noon to 3:30pm is being imposed across the Sindh today to prevent people from participating in congregational Friday prayers. It is pertinent to mention here that the provincial government will observe a complete lockdown between 12:00 noon to 3:00pm today in order to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic. The Sindh administrations are taking strong measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus epidemic. Under the new directives, no traffic will be allowed on the road during this period. Sindh Home Department also issued a notification to order complete closure of public, private, transport, business other public activities on Friday. Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab said that strict lockdown measures will be maintained for three hours across the province on Friday.
