Sindh govt extends powers of Rangers, notification issued

KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh government late on Wednesday issued a notification to extend policing powers of Rangers. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in a telephonic conversation directed the Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah to immediately issue notification. PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari appreciated the role played by the Rangers in the war against terrorism. It was stated that better civil and military relations are in best interest of the country and nation and need to be strengthened. Under the Section-4 of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, Sindh Rangers can carry out a raid without warrant against Extortion, target killing, kidnapping for ransom and terrorism.
