Sindh govt issues notification for trial of Mureed Abbas murder case in jail

KARACHI (92 News) – The Sindh Home Department has issued a notification for conducting the trial of Mureed Abbas murder case in jail. The notification has been submitted to the court of the additional district and sessions judge. According to the Sindh Home Department, the murder of anchor Mureed Abbas is a high-profile case and an untoward incident could occur during the production of the accused Atif Zaman and Adil Zaman. During the hearing on Tuesday, the South additional district and sessions judge remarked that the case would now be tried in jail. Meanwhile, the additional district and sessions judge has written a letter to district and sessions judge. On September 30, the anti-terrorism court (ATC) had again transferred the murder case of anchorperson Mureed Abbas to sessions court. The ATC removed seven charges of the Anti-Terrorism Act of the murder case in Mureed Abbas, announcing that the case will be presented and heard in the session court. According to the preliminary report prepared by the police, Mureed Abbas had invested Rs117.2 million with Atif Zaman who had to pay Rs29.3 million as profit to him. Atif Zaman used to pay Rs301.5 million monthly as profit to the investors. Khizar Hayat, another deceased, had invested Rs15.8 million with Atif Zaman. On July 24, the police decided to add terrorism charges in the charge sheet, maintaining that the second person killed with Mureed Abbas, Khizar Hayyat was slain in broad daylight in front of onlookers which struck fear in the masses.
