Sindh govt orders closure of petrol pumps across province by 5pm

KARACHI (92 News) – Due to the carelessness of the citizens during the lockdown, the Sindh government has ordered closure of petrol pumps across the province by 5pm on Sunday. According to a notification issued by the home department, gas stations will remain open from 8am to 5pm. Puncture shops, on the other hand, have been allowed to remain open till 8pm. The home department has directed the police ensure that the order is implemented in all districts and cities across Sindh. The notification added that petrol pumps located on highways will remain open. The decision was taken as a measure to contain the coronvairus spread in the country. People have been told to stay indoors and practise social distancing. Earlier, the Sindh government has decided to impose strict restrictions across the province to stop the peoples’ movement due to coronavirus outbreak. Following to the soaring coronavirus cases across the province and non-seriousness of the citizens during lockdown, the Sindh government is planning to tighten restrictions and extra-ordinary preventive measures to stop the movement of citizens. The provincial transport minister suggested for imposing curfew as Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has started consultations to increased restrictions. Meanwhile, the video statement regarding to impose tougher restrictions under the intensified lockdown across Sindh will be releases soon. It is noteworthy that the provincial government has ordered for a more effective lockdown in Karachi from 8 am till 8 pm. Sindh Information Minister Nasir Shah said that hospitals would remain open 24 hours a day whereas grocery stores would remain closed during the stipulated time. The Chief Minister has directed the Banking sector to only open important branches. It is pertinent to mention here that the complete lockdown is imposed across the province for 15-days. During the lockdown, the people’s movement banned. However, bakeries, milk shops and medical stores are open while the families have to take permission from area’s SHO before holding funeral prayers.
