Sindh govt unveils Rs 1.043 trillion budget for FY2017-18

KARACHI (92 News) – The Sindh government on Monday unveiled over Rs 1.043 trillion for the new fiscal year 2017-18, with an increase of 15 percent in the salaries of the government employees.

Announcing the budget on Monday, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that 25,000 new jobs will be created in the budget.

The chief minister said that a grant of Rs 200 billion had been allocated for education.

He also announced a special package of Rs 50 has been announced for Karachi.

The chief minister said that an amount of Rs 15.50 billion had been allocated for Health Development Program with an increase of 26 percent.

He said that grants had been increased for NICVD and SIUT, saying the former had become a centre of angioplasty.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that Shaheed Benazir Maternity Home, Gulshan -e-Hadeed would be upgraded to 50 beds.

He said that a grant of Rs 8.09 billion has been allocated for the Sindh Immunization Support Program, Rs 2.4 billion to defend the Lady Health Workers Program and Rs 2.4 billion for children suffering from malnutrition.
