ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the Sindh government’s statement about the lockdown was misunderstood. Speaking in a video link conference along with the provincial information ministers and special assistants on Saturday, she said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is in favour of the lockdown. “We have to jointly fight against coronavirus,” she said. She reiterated the government’s resolve to provide all available resources to provincial governments in national fight against coronavirus. “Under prevailing tense situation, the media has a crucial responsibility to avoid fake news and provide correct information to the citizens.” Firdous Ashiq Awan said that a separate WhatsApp Group with representatives from all four provinces will be created for disseminating quick and correct information to the social media. She warned that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the cybercrime unit have been directed to take action against disseminators of fake news on the social media. She urged that all the opposition to set aside political differences and be united in common fight against Covid-19. Sindh Minister for Information Nasir Shah said that they are not only ready to help each other, but also doing as well.
