Sindh presents budget of Rs1477.903 billion for FY2021-22

KARACHI (92 news) - SIndh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who also holds the portfolio of finance, on Tuesday presented budget of total outlay of 1477.903 billion rupees for financial year 2021-22.

He said the total volume of the budget for next financial year is 19.1 per cent more than previous financial year.

Salaries and Pensions

The chief minister announced 20 per cent increase in the salaries of provincial government employees and minimum wages for workers from 17500 to 25000 rupees.

The 10 per cent increase in the pension of retired employees has also been proposed in the budget.

IT & Industry

Murad Ali Shah went on to say that Rs 1.70 billion has been allocated for the rehabilitation of IT sector, while Rs 3 billion has been set aside for industrial development.

He said Rs 2 billion has been earmarked for low cost housing, Rs 1 billion for livestock and fisheries.

Annual Development Programme

Murad Ali Shah said spending on development for next financial year has been increased by 41.3 per cent. He said an amount of Rs222.500 billion has been earmarked for Annual Development Programme which is 43.5 percent more than the ADP of current financial year while hundred percent increase has been made in district development programme for next financial year.

Murad Ali Shah said government has decided to continue Rs30.90 billion social protection programme for the poor as the economic stability package.

Education & Health

He said government has increased the budget for education sector by 14.2 percent with an allocation of 277.56 billion rupees, whereas 172.08 billion rupees have been earmarked for health sector which is 29.5 percent higher than current fiscal year.

COVID

The government has allocated an amount of 24.73 billion rupees for infectious diseases including COVID-19.

Murad Ali Shah said two billion rupees have been earmarked for purchase of PCR and PPE kits in context with COVID-19 while 646.22 million rupees have been proposed for purchase of oxygen in view of pandemic.

Agriculture

He announced allocation for agriculture sector has been increased to 15.26 billion rupees from 14.8 billion rupees.

Law &order

An amount of 119.97 billion rupees has been allocated for the law and order in the province.

17 billion rupees have been allocated for irrigation and 18.57 billion rupees for social welfare department.

Transports

An amount of 38.2 billion rupees earmarked for road infrastructure and transports sector and 2.5 billion rupees allocated for energy sector in the province.

Local Government

82 billion rupees have been earmarked for local government and 500 million rupees for various relief and welfare measures in next budget.

In addition, an amount of 207 billion rupees has also been earmarked for environment, forest and wildlife sector.

Women Development

He said an amount for 571.975 million rupees has been allocated for women development department and 154 million rupees for minority affairs.
