Sindh Tajir Ittehad gives two-day ultimatum to govt for making SOPs

KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh Tajir Ittehad insisted to open shops as they gave two-day ultimatum to the provincial government for making standard operating procedures (SOPs). Members of the union announced to open the shops from 1st Ramazanul Mubarak, adding that not the time for negotiation has been ended. They also hinted at the possibility of a protest campaign against the provincial government. The union members said that they would give themselves up for voluntary arrests if a mechanism to open businesses was not put into action. The Tajir Ittehad also claimed that Sindh government did not care for its traders and daily wage earners and has left them to God’s mercy alone. On the other hand, the dialogue between government committee and traders ended with no result, however, deadlock continued regarding to soften the restrictions during lockdown. On Wednesday, four traders, including All City Tajjar Ittehad president, were arrested for violating the lockdown. The authorities got forcibly closed the shops in Iron Market. Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has taken notice of the arrest of the traders and directed to release the traders. Earlier addressing a press conference, All City Tajjar Ittehad president Hammad Ponawala said that the Sindh government is giving a lollipop to the traders. “We have decided to open the shop due to attitude of the Sindh government,” he said. He said that seriousness is not being displayed even during these conditions. “The Sindh government has not prepared SOPs so far,” he added. Meanwhile, a delegation of traders called on Mufti Muneebur Rehman at Darul Aloom Naeemia. Mufti Muneebur Rehman urged the traders to show patience, asking the Sindh CM to listen to traders. He said that SOPs will be followed during Ramazanul Mubarik. The traders said that they want to do business as per SOPs.
