Sindh Law Adviser Appointment Case: PPP to challenge SHC verdict in SC

KARACHI (92 News) – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has on Friday decided to challenge Sindh High Court’s (SHC) verdict regarding ordering Sindh’s law adviser Murtaza Wahab to step down and vacate the post terming his appointment illegal. The PPP leadership has formed a legal committee including Aitzaz Ahsan, Farooq H Naik and Lateef Khosa to challenge the verdict. Earlier, a two-member bench of the Sindh High Court comprising SHC Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Zulfiqar Khan announced the verdict declaring Murtaza Wahab’s appointment as the CM’s adviser illegal after a lawyer moved the court stating that the law adviser was not competent enough to oversee the affairs of ministry. The court in it judgment said that that Murtaza Wahab did not have the proper expertise regarding law nor the required experience. Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui is the son of former PPP leader Fauzia Wahab. He was appointed as the Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh on law and order by Syed Qaim Ali Shah in April 2015.
