Sinking of Karachi in monsoon due to issue of garbage: SHC chief justice

KARACHI (92 News) – Expressing anger at provincial and local government over situation of Karachi after recent rains, Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Khadim Hussain Shaikh remarked that sinking of Karachi in monsoon due to issue of garbage. During the hearing, CJ Khadim Hussain remarked that sinking of teh metropolis is a great tragedy, adding that houses and belongings of masses were destroyed in the rains and people of the city are even unable to evict their children from their homes. The court while summoning concerned officials immediately, remarked that institutions  are putting responsibility of Karachi’s situation on each other. Earlier, four people were killed and two others were injured in different incidents during the heavy rain in the city. Two each people were killed due to roof collapse and electrocution. Roads and streets gave a pond-like look in North Nazimabad, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulbihar, Golimar and Baldia. Several vehicles were washed away in the rainwater. A truck of K-Electric was also submerged the rainwater. Water from Gujjar Nullah inundated the nearby residential area. Traffic flow on all roads was badly affected due to rainwater. Severe logjam was witnessed near Ayesha Manzil. Several vehicles went out of order during the rain, while several others were stuck after their petrol ran out.
