Situation is not such that educational institutions should be closed: Shafqat

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood has said that the situation is not such that educational institutions should be closed.

Shafqat Mehmood inaugurated a new science block at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).

On the occasion, speaking to the journalists, the minister said that the situation of COVID-19 is not too dangerous yet to close all educational institutions in Pakistan He added that the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers' Conference (IPEMC) will overview the current situation of the country.

"The situation is not such that educational institutions should be closed. The educational institutions will be run along with the economy," he maintained.

The Education Minister said that the example of Pakistan's performance compared to other countries is being given all over the world. "We will continue to face the challenge," he added.

The minister said government is doing coronavirus tests of all teachers and other staff in the educational institutions. He said coronavirus cases are increasing in the country day by day so everyone should strictly follow the SOPs to protect from the pandemic.

Commenting on the US presidential election, Shafqat Mahmood said that he would welcome any government that would come to the US election 2020.
