PESHAWAR (92 News) – At least six protesters were arrested and many injured when police baton-charged doctors staging demonstration to press for their demands at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar on Friday. According to the reports, Peshawar Lady Reading Hospital turned into a battlefield when the police and protesting doctors scuffled with each other. However, it added to the woes of patients and their attendants. The protesting doctors belonged to Lady Reading Hospital and were trying to force their colleagues to lockdown the hospital as a protest in favor of their demands. Six doctors arrested and many injured when police baton-charged and fired tear gas on the protesters of Grand Health Alliance, a syndicate of doctors, nurses, paramedics and non-medical staff at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar. The doctors and paramedics and non-medical staff staged a protest in Peshawar. The doctors raised slogans to get their demands fulfilled and tried to enter the administration block. The protesting doctors were stopped by the police which resorted to shelling inside the hospital premises. The officials also arrested several protesters. Many individuals, including women, sustained injuries. The Grand Health Alliance refused to accept District and Regional Health Authority Act. The hospital administration imposed 144 in the hospital and directed the police to baton-charge any person who would deteriorate the peaceful environment of the hospital.
