SJC reviews references against two judges as lawyers divide over issue

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) reviewed the references against Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Kareem Khan on Friday. On the other hand, a majority of lawyers distanced themselves from the strike. The Supreme Court and Islamabad and Lahore High Court Bar Associations worked as usual. The district court worked as usual. The lawyers said that they were standing with the law and the constitution. “We are not with the people doing politics over the issue. Karachi City Courts were locked by the striking lawyers. Later, a group of lawyers unlocked the gate. They also took out a rally against the strike and chanted slogans. In Lahore, lawyers also rejected the strike call. The strike was also rejected in Gujranwala, Hafizabad and Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. In some cities, lawyers observed a partial strike.
