Smart lockdown ended from 39 UCs in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – The Sindh government has ended smart lockdown in 39 Union Councils (UCs) of Karachi at 12:00 midnight (night between Thursday and Friday). According to Commissioner Karachi, health advisory from the provincial health department will be followed from now on for the implementation of smart lockdown in the city. A day earlier, the Sindh Home Department has extended lockdown till July 15 in the province. According to a notification, all educational institutions, marriage halls, cinemas, theatre, beauty parlours and restaurants will remain closed. The business timing except pharmacies and essential services will open for five days in week from 6am to 7pm. Home delivery service will be operational till 11pm. Earlier a day, the government of Punjab and Balochistan have decided to extend the smart lockdown imposed across the provinces till July 15 due to continuously increasing cases of coronavirus (COVID-19). As per an official notification by the provincial home departments, shopping malls, markets, shops, warehouses, auto-repair shops and hair salons will be allowed to remain open from 9am to 7pm from Thursdays to Saturdays. All businesses will remain closed on Fridays. The notification further said that tandoors, shops selling dairy products, blood banks, medical stores and teller shops will be allowed to remain open for 24 hours. Restaurants will be allowed to provide home delivery and take-away services throughout the day as well.
