RAWALPINDI (92 News) - A soldier was martyred in an exchange of fire during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber District on Tuesday.

According to a press release issued by the ISPR, security forces conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in general area Shakas, Khyber District.

During the conduct of the operation, an intense fire exchange took place between own troops and terrorists. Own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. Resultantly, terrorist Liaquat Ali alias Shaheen, an important terrorist commander, was killed. The killed terrorist was also propagated as a ‘missing person’.

During the operation, a large number of weapon and ammunition was also recovered from the killed terrorist. The killed terrorist remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces, target-killing and extortion.

However during the intense exchange of fire, Sepoy Saleem Khan (age 28 years, resident of Topi/Swabi) having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom. Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.

The Pakistan Army is determined to eliminating the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.
