ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) lawmaker and Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh on Thursday claimed that some police officers are plotting against Sindh government. It is pertinent to mention here that an investigation report by Shikarpur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dr Muhammad Rizwan Ahmed Khan has accused Imtiaz Sheikh of patronising criminals and using them for political and financial gains. Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Imtiaz Sheikh rejected the contents of the report, saying they were based on lies. “Who is stopping him from arresting the criminals? He is scared of going to their areas,” the minister maintained. The energy minister further that the only reason the report was issued was because he had pointed out the SSP’s mistakes. He also alleged that the SSP is responsible in lawlessness aunrest in the Shikarpur. “SSP Rizwan has also involved in the kidnapping for ransom. His corruption stories also surfaced,” he blamed. He also alleged that Rizwan takes every action on the order of Sindh IG Kaleem Imam. The energy minister said that he will not run but compete with this situation. The report was sent to the DIG Larkana by SSP Dr Rizwan made startling revelations. The report leveled serious allegations against Provincial Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh. The report alleged that Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh is patronage of criminals in his constituency, Shikarpur. The report of SSP said that the minister has a criminal wing at his disposal for arm-twisting of his political rivals. He allegedly got a rival, named Shah Nawaz, killed by criminals. Furthermore, he would get police officers of his choice appointed in the city by using his position, the report added. The report said the minister wants to pressurise the police by using criminal elements of the city’s Katcha areas to create lawlessness. He provides them shelter at hotels, fuel stations, guest houses and farmhouses, it added. Earlier, the Sindh government has decided to send IGP Kaleem Imam on leave for replacing him with another top officer. Talking to the media on Thursday, IGP Kalim Imam said that Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah’s discussion over the issue with Prime Minister Imran Khan had turned out to be meaningless. “All proceedings are as per law. Firdous Shamim has wrongly termed the decision one-sided,” he said. He said that no one raises the question if the decision is taken by Usman Buzdar. Meanwhile, the Sindh government has sent the names of Mushtaq Mehr, Ghulam Qadir Thebo and Kamran Afzal to the federal government for the slot.
