ZHANGZHOU - Heavy rain pelted down in southeast China's Fujian Province on Thursday as it prepared for approaching typhoon of Linfa. Linfa was 122 kilometers away from Dongshan County of Zhangzhou City in Fujian at six on Thursday morning. Strong gales pushed waves high on the sea and boats were taking shelter in harbors. The National Meteorological Center reports that Linfa is expected to land somewhere between Shantou City and Shanwei City in south China's Guangdong on Thursday and then will move to the southwest and gradually become weaker. Taiwan, Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi will fall under its influence with strong winds and torrential rains hitting those places. Meanwhile, typhoon Chan-Hom is also approaching China and is expected to make landfall on coastal areas of Zhejiang and Fujian provinces on Friday and Saturday. –Reuters
