SP suspends Dolphin personnel for violence on citizen

LAHORE (92 News) – Superintendent of Police (SP) Bilal Zafar on Sunday suspended Dolphin Force personnel, who committed violence on citizen at Calvary Bridge in Lahore, after taking notice of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz. It is pertinent to mention here that Dolphin Force personnel had slapped and thrashed a motorcyclist for not having papers of his bike. The footage of the incident was surfaced and the IGP took notice of the matter. However, the Dolphin Police SP suspended the personnel, including Ahsan, Danish, Muhammad Waqas and Waqas Ahmad from their duties. Despite strict orders of the IGP, police have not stopped violence against citizens and after the incident the motorcyclist was locked up in the Nasirabad Police Station. Earlier, as the investigation into the death of ATM thief Salahuddin in police custody is currently underway, the provincial chief executive has removed the Rahim Yar Khan district police chief from his post in a latest move. Muhammad Umar Farooq Salamat was transferred immediately on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar and was ordered to report to the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore. The provincial police chief assigned the additional charge of Rahim Yar Khan DPO to SP Investigation Habib Ullah Khan. The DSP concerned was suspended from service while the former SHO and his subordinates were booked in a case. Senior Civil Judge Rahim Yar Khan Sheikh Fayyaz Hussian had been appointed inquiry officer into Salahuddin death case after the Rahim Yar Khan police submitted a written request to the District and Sessions judge for allowing judicial inquiry. The IO sought detailed record from police and Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan and issued notices to the accused policemen, current SHO and investigation officer, the SZH’s medical superintendent and the father of Salahuddin. The hearing into the case will take place on September 7.
