LAHORE (92 News) - Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi postponed the Punjab Assembly session till May 16 without any proceedings on the no-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari.

He said that the law and order situation is not such that the session could be run. "Hooliganism is being committed through the police. The court should decide whether they have to run the government or police. Under the constitution, it is my prerogative that when the session should be summoned and how it should be run," he maintained.

The Punjab Assembly speaker said that the court cannot interfere in the assembly matters. "The voting for the chief minister-ship was illegal. Who says that there is a constitutional crisis in the country," he added.

He declared that Usman Buzdar is the chief minister of Punjab and running the affairs.

Raja Basharat said that unconstitutional and unelected chief minister wants to assume the powers. "We will not allow him to take the oath. The Punjab governor has already announced not to take the oath from Hamza Shehbaz," he added.
