Special commission will be formed for protection of minorities rights: CM Punjab

LAHORE (92 News) – Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar has said that special commission will be formed for the protection of minorities rights.

In a meeting with delegation of Christian community headed by Provincial Minister for Human Rights Justin Ejaz Alam, he said that a special commission is being formed for the protection of the rights of minorities in Punjab. “This year Punjab government has five times increased the budget for minorities. In the current financial year, Rs. 2.5 billion has been set aside for the welfare of minority communities. The recruitment process has started for the vacancies under the 5% quota of jobs allotted to the minority community.

The quota allocation of jobs for minority communities will be ensured for the first time in the history of Punjab. A special quota of 2% has been fixed for minorities in higher education institutions.

Youhanabad, Lahore and Warispura in Faisalabad have been declared as model minority areas. The temple in Bhong area of Rahim Yar Khan has been restored in a month. No effort will be spared for the welfare and protection of the rights of the minority communities. The role of minorities in the construction and development of Pakistan cannot be ignored. The Constitution of Pakistan protects the fundamental rights of minorities. In the new Pakistan, minorities have equal rights.”
