March 14, 2019
RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Director General Inter-Service Public Relation (ISPR) Major Gen Asif Ghafoor on Thursday responded the viral campaign on social media for wearing army caps and shirts during Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019 Final. The ISPR director general took his twitter and advised spectators against donning military gear at Sunday’s final of the 2019 PSL. He also acknowledged the reverence of Pakistan Army by the civilians, however, emphasized that sports are beyond politics.
DG ISPR says enjoy PSL in city of lights
Major General Asif Ghafoor noted that Pakistani fans wanted to show up at the PSL finale wearing military-style caps and shirts. “Dear Pakistanis u are desirous to put on military style caps/shirts during PSL Final. Pak Armed Forces humbly acknowledge your love & support. Sports are beyond politics & we believe that our bondage is beyond such gestures alone. Enjoy the game in CityOfLights,” the DG ISPR tweeted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze-ku1LyBIc This campaign emerged as a response to the Indian cricket team’s move to wear camouflage caps in a recent ODI against Australia, which Pakistan has vehemently criticised. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had lodged a protest with the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the Indian cricket team last week wore camouflage caps during their third ODI match against Australia “as [a] mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces”. It is pertinent to mention here that the final of the PSL is scheduled on March 17th at the National Stadium in Karachi for which Quetta Gladiators have already reserved the spot.
Indian cricket team violates ICC rules by wearing army caps in ODI
The Indian cricket team – wearing army caps to show solidarity with the armed forces –  violated the ICC code of conduct in International ODI against Australia. The games like cricket always symbolized to show peace and played for the refreshment and entertainment but the Indian cricket team tried to politicize for wearing army caps during the ODI match.
Fawad hopes ICC to take action against India for politicising cricket
Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to lodge a formal protest against Indian cricket team for politicising Gentleman’s game. Fawad Chaudhry expressed immense displeasure over Indian cricket team’s wearing military cap during an ODI match against Australia. Fawad also  shared a picture of Indian players in a tweet and warned that if Indian cricket team would not be stopped, then Pakistan cricket team should wear black bands to remind the world about Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir. He took the twitter and said, “It’s just not Cricket”, I hope ICC ll take action for politicising Gentleman’s game … if Indian Cricket team ll not be stopped.” “Pak Cricket team should wear black bands to remind The World about Indian atrocities in Kashmir… I urge #PCB to lodge formal protest,” he tweeted.
