ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary has said that sports are the only way to put young people on the right track.

Addressing a news conference along with Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr Fahmida Mirza and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar in Islamabad on Sunday, he said that sports can play a pivotal role in eradicating extremism from society. “6000 athletes of 15-25 years of age will participate in the launching of Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive on Monday. Talent hunt at division level will help to promote sports at grassroots level.”

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr Fahmida Mirza said that government is taking substantial steps to promote sports in the country. “The new sports policy will ensure appropriate regulatory mechanism.”

SAPM on Youth Affairs Usman Dar in his remarks said that sixty eight percent population of the country comprises youth but unfortunately ninety four percent of them do not have access to sports facilities.

“Government will provide youth of Pakistan with access to quality sports with coordination of provinces. Sindh province will cooperate with federal government in this regard,” he added.
