Stand united to meet challenges being confronted by nation: President

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - While felicitating the nation, President Dr Arif Alvi urged the nation to stand united to meet the challenges being confronted by the nation. In his message on the occasion of 74th Independence Day, the president said that India has been committing gross human rights violations for over three decades and has intensified its brutalization since the imposition of lockdown on 05 August 2019. "As we commemorate this Independence Day, we should not forget our brothers and sisters of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), who have been subjected to harsh brutalities by the Indian security forces," Dr Arif Alvi maintained. He also called upon every Pakistani to stand firm and work for progress and prosperity of the country and stand united to meet the challenges being confronted by the nation. However, nation is celebrating Pakistan’s 74th Independence Day on Friday (today) with traditional enthusiasm and zeal. It is worth mentioning here that the nation celebrates August 14 to commemorate the sacrifices made by our forefathers during the freedom struggle. Meanwhile, the nation is celebrating Independence Day with renewed resolve to work with the spirit of Pakistan Movement to make the country a true Islamic welfare state. The day dawned with 31 gun salutes in the federal capital and 21 gun salute in the provincial headquarters. Prayers were offered for security and progress of Pakistan and well-being of the people. It is a public holiday.
