State exercises power only against unarmed political workers: Ahsan Iqbal

KARACHI (92 News) – PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal has said that the state exercises power only against unarmed political workers.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he said that he was already fired at in the same city and today his blood has fallen on the land of this city, which was a matter of pride for him.

He said that the government had destroyed the journey of progress started by the PML-N. "We launched Sukkur-Multan Motorway. The Sukkur-Hyderabad project would have been completed in 2020 had the work on it not stopped," he added.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the PML-N had improved the economy of Karachi. "I think that Karachi needs water, electricity, cleanliness and peace. This city can turn into Shanghai," he added.

On the other hand, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has demanded punishment for the people responsible for torturing Ahsan Iqbal and workers.

The PML-N workers led by Ahsan Iqbal were baton-charged when they tried to inaugurate Green Line project as token. Ahsan Iqbal was injured in the baton-charged.

The PML-N workers said that Green Line project was a gift by the previous government. "The project has been inaugurated and the prime minister should not bother to visit the city," he added.
