ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan has said that a state institution neither interferes nor it can interfere in the work of the judiciary.

Reacting to a letter written by Islamabad High Court's Justice Babar Sattar to IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq in a video message on Tuesday, he said: "A letter by the IHC justice appeared on social media and an impression is being given as if the relationship between the court and the executive is deteriorating."

The AGP said that some matters of the states are sensitive. "The purpose of writing the letter is not to interfere. The letter was misinterpreted. Such communication involving sensitive matters is liaised by the AGP or advocate general. I played the role of bridge between the judiciary and the executive," he clarified.

AGP Mansoor Awan said the judge only requested that in the audio leak case briefing on the matters related to surveillance should be held in-camera. “Unfortunately, it [request] was perceived that the case should be decided on one side, which was not the case. I deny this impression. The content of the letter should be examined to know what has been termed obstruction of justice," he concluded.
