ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that th ethrought of State of Madina is behind the Ehsaas Program. Addressing the ceremony of launch of Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Program on Monday, he said that the government is also launching the ration program. “A disease takes a man below the poverty line. Sehat Card will be very beneficial for the masses,” he said. The prime minister said that three education systems had been in vogue in the country, but no one discussed it. “Injustice increased due to different education systems,” he said. He expressed hope that the scholarship to deserving and talented students will give them an opportunity to excel in life. “Rs 50,000 scholarships each year to undergraduates is a big step towards higher education.” Imran Khan said allocating a quota for physically challenged persons and females is an indication that government believes in inclusive policies for the development of the country. “Women are the builders of the family and nation and this scholarship will help them bring to mainstream,” he said. The prime minister said that he founded the NAMAL University in Mianwali for technical education to equip the youth of the area with skills in demand so that they could get jobs and change the economic situation of their families. He said students from poor households were awarded scholarships to enable them to get education despite having poor socio-economic background. He appreciated the work of Dr Sania Nishtar who is taking initiatives to bring improvements in the life of common man. Speaking on the occasion, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar said this is the biggest scholarship program in the history of the country being started under a joint venture of Benazir Income Support Program and High Education Commission. She said that Rs5 billion will be allocated annually and 50,000 undergraduate students will be given scholarships each year along with accommodation expenses. “50 percent scholarships will be given to women students while 2 percent to physically disabled persons," she concluded.
