SC orders stents to cost Rs60,000 to Rs100,000

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered the stents will now cost Rs60,000 to Rs100,000. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar was conducting hearing of sub-standard stunts case. During the proceedings, the CJP directed to present detail of medicines and equipments required in the emergency. He also observed that the price of prescription cost for the patients of heart, blood pressure and diabetes should be between Rs500 to Rs1000, adding that if someone visits a doctor, the medicines prescribed cost Rs5,000 to Rs7,000. Rawalpindi Institute head Dr Azhar Kiyani presented both the prescriptions in the court. The CJP ordered all provincial and federal governments to ensure presence of necessary medicines and equipments in the hospitals and ordered to publish the prescriptions’ information in the newspapers. He remarked that if any government has any objection they can approach the court. Justice Saqib Nisar observed that he might visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa next week. The court then adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
