Strong earthquake jolts parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR (92 News) – An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 hit different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the quake, which struck different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Chitral, Dir, Swat and adjoining areas, at a depth of 60 km. The quake’s epicenter was determined at Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area. The tumbler created panic in the people. Pakistan is located in one of the most earthquake prone areas with high vulnerability to earthquakes. Geographically, the country lies in the collision zone of the India tectonic plate to the south and the Eurasian plate to the north.
