Student gang-rape case: police get physical remand of four accused

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – A local court on Sunday handed over four accused of being involved in the gang-rape of a student to police on a five-day physical remand in Rawalpindi. The accused including three police constables and a driver were presented before a duty magistrate today. The accused are: Muhammad Naseer, Rashid Minhas, Muhammad Azeem and Amir. According to the first information report (FIR), a yesterday night three personnel of Muhafiz Force Rawat Police Station raped a student, who is residing in the Al Qudus Hostel. The respondent alleged that the personnel snatched a gold ring worth of 30,000 rupees and raped her. In a statement, the victim girl said that he went to private housing society for Sehri with her friend, where, Muhammad Naseer, Rashid Minhas and Muhammad Azeem security officials reached there. They harassed her friend ran way after harassing the personnel. In his application, the girl also stated that the police officials stopped a car from a while and raped her. They also threatened her to tell anyone otherwise will bear serious consequences. After the rape, they dropped her in the commercial market. Meanwhile, Rawalpindi CPO Captain (r) Muhammad Faisal Rana said that the suspects showed no remorse or embarrassment over the incident and the police will make sure that an example is made out of the case. “We will make sure that the girl gets justice,” he said. “I am closely supervising the investigation. Police should give an impression of security to the people if any of my force members is involved in such act we will bring him to the task.” The Punjab IG Arif Nawaz has directed the CPO to contact the girl and affected family and has reportedly said that he won’t tolerate such incidents. “There is no place for such individuals in the force,” he said.
