RAWALPINDI (92 News) – As many as 2,763 terrorists have been killed, their 837 hideouts destroyed and over 87,000 lethal weapons seized since the Zarb-e-Azb Operation was launched a year ago. According to a statement issued by the Director General ISPR Spokesman Major General Asim Bajwa, Pakistan Army has broken the backbone of terrorists in FATA, especially North Waziristan Agency and Khyber Agency where militants strongholds, infrastructure and sanctuaries have largely been destroyed. “The Pakistan Army carried out effective operations, which are unique,” he added. Asim Bajwa said 9,000 intelligence-based operations were carried out and thousands of terrorists and their abettors were arrested. He said 218 most wanted terrorists were among 2,763 terrorists killed in operations carried out in North Waziristan, South Waziristan and its adjacent cities. He claimed that 253 tons of explosives were recovered. The DG ISPR said: “About 347 soldiers embraced martyrdom during the operations.” Asim Bajwa further said the entire nation was united to eliminate terrorism. He appreciated the media and civil society for their positive role to help wipe out terrorism.
